Dirt is Freedom!!

"Whenever there are in any country uncultivated lands and unemployed poor, it is clear that the laws of property have been so far extended as to violate natural right. The earth is given as a common stock for man to labor and live on. The small landowners are the most precious part of a state." -Thomas Jefferson

The other day the young cashier in the checkout lane that I was going through asked how I was, to which I said, "Good. You?" He said, " I'm well but I will be even better in an hour because I get to go home." This got me thinking how utterly ridiculous it is that millions of people have to leave home everyday and endure traffic, supervisors, mind defeating work, etc. all for the priveledge of losing their time, dignity, and morals, as well as so many things that I can't even think of right now, all for a few measly pieces of worthless paper to buy the things that they more than likely could do with out, or that they could produce themselves without leaving the comforts of their own home. The young cashier, "Gets to go home," not when he says, but when he is let go. He is no longer his own property, he belongs to Wal-Mart! How messed up is that? The "American Dream" is an illusion(or a wrestler named Dusty Rhodes if you watched wrestling back when)pinned up by society to get human beings to buy into a system which ultimately defeats their instincts and puts them on a hamster wheel chasing after a set of ideals that fails their needs. Turn off the television, there is freedom in the dirt, quit your job and cultivate it!
